A gorgeous black and white pit bull, named Cherry Garcia by his adopted family, was recently honored by a website called “BarkPost” for his bravery. Though gentle and docile enough to watch over his two tiny kitten friends that live with him, Cherry was once abused and mistreated by football player Michael Vick in a dog fighting ring. Researchers have found that programs designed to curb relational aggression or “mean girl” behavior also help boys and teachers. In relational aggression, bullies use gossip and exclusionary tactics to dominate social hierarchies and harass outsiders. To combat this behavior, schools in Philadelphia implemented the Friend to Friend program, which is designed to help at-risk girls belonging to ethnic minorities.
