Birmingham Teen Rides Bus to High School Graduation and Gets New Car

Many adults would not have the determination it took Cory Patrick to get his high school diploma with his friends. Cory had been attending the same public school since he was in elementary school. When his mother moved the family across Birmingham, Alabama, Cory was determined to graduate with his peers.

For more than nine months, Cory would get up at 4:45 AM to be at the bus stop by 5:21. He would then make the trip to school When the day was done, he would have to wait about two hours on the bus before arriving home nearly two hours later. Therefore, Cory was often gone from home from 5 AM to 7 PM at night.

Cory graduated with his peers last week. He, however, went to his high school graduation alone. When he got on a MAX bus, the bus driver was so inspired that she took his photo and posted it to her own social media account. A local radio announcer saw the photo and decided that he needed to meet the young man. Through luck, he was able to track down the man, and he was very happy with the way that the young man presented himself. In fact, he was so happy that he bought the young graduate a new car.

Cory has not announced what he plans to do with the rest of his life. Most people who know Cory, however, believe that he will be successful in whatever he plans to do. A GoFundMe account has been set up to assist this hardworking student with future endeavors.
