Born in Britain, James Larkin, also known as Jim Larkin, was a well-known Irish labor union organizer who began working on the docks in his birthplace when he was in his youth so that he could add to his family's income. Feeling that he and the other workers were being treated unfairly, he eventually joined the National Union of Laborers and later became a full-time union planner and activist in 1905. Jim Larkin was a renowned Irish trade activist of the 20th Century. He was born into a low-income family in the slums of Liverpool, England and had little formal education. The intelligent species of Homo sapiens were reported as being originally seen only 2 million years ago. Scientists came to this discovery when they concurred that humans were the only species smart enough to make tools from stone as a form of technology. Researchers recently found evidence of stone tools that date back much farther than the existence of Homo sapiens.
