Haidar Barbouti has a long and distinguished career in the field of real estate. His experience spans over 20 years. Specializing in commercial property management, Barbouti, who graduated from Columbia University, manages property from Houston to New York City.

Barbouti purchased the historic Highland Village shopping center in Houston in 1990. Highland Village was among Houston’s first shopping centers. Barbouti’s goal was to respect the local significance of the center in its existing neighborhood while making it more relevant and upscale. Under Barbouti’s leadership, Highland Village has thrived. Starbucks’ first Houston location opened there in 1994. Barbouti also led a strong effort to attract prominent national brands. Crate & Barrel’s Highland Village store, opened in 2000, is considered Houston’s most ambitious retail architecture by historian Stephen Fox. Along with Crate & Barrel, illustrious names like Williams-Sonoma, Pottery Barn and Restoration Hardware have come to Highland Village.

Recent years have seen continued innovation at Highland Village. A pet adoption center, Highland Village Adoption Center, opened in 2008, thanks to Highland Village and Barbouti’s generous donation. The first environmentally friendly exercise center in Houston, Quality Life Fitness, arrived in 2010. Highland Village also gained an Apple Store, which opened on March 16, 2012, the same day as the release of the third-generation iPad.

All of these advancements are thanks to the leadership of Haidar Barbouti. As Director of Leasing, he leads and oversees all leases, negotiations, daily operations and center development plans. Barbouti is also president of Fairfax Management, where he directs important projects such as luxury retail shopping centers. Important clients include the CEOs of Howard Lester, Williams Sonoma, Urban Outfitters and restauranteur Patrick Torres.

Haidar Barbouti is also a noted philanthropist. The center’s Adoption Center is a testament to his love of animals. In Houston, his concern for animals and children is widely known and admired. Whether in business or philanthropic settings, Haidar Barbouti’s leadership stands out and is admired by all.
