Michael Burwell, Willis Towers Watson’s New CFO

Willis Towers Watson has an excellent new Chief Financial Officer! Michael “Mike” J. Burwell has 31 years of experience from Pricewaterhouse Coopers LLC, which he was the CFO of from 2008 through 2012, the CFO of from 2009 through 2012, and held Vice Chairman Global and US Transformation role from 2012 to 2016. Burwell has additionally been a partner of PwC since 1997, where he leads buy-and-sell projects for both multinational and private companies. He additionally evaluated the business models of private equity funds, and lead teams performing analysis of product profitability.

 

Burwell was praised by his colleagues at PwC, with the global head of PwC’s Transactions Services Group, Colin McKay, saying that “Michael Burwell has been instrumental in the development of one of our most important regions while simultaneously meeting client needs in a major industry undergoing rapid consolidation”.

 

Burwell earned a BBA from the Michigan State University in 1986 and is a CPA. He also has 11 years of audit experience and 12 years of Transaction Services advisory experiences. He is also currently Chairman of the Automotive Suppliers M&A Institute Conference, and has been for six years, and is a frequent speaker and writer on automotive M&A and other topics. He also served on the board at Sacred Heart Rehabilitation Center, Inc.

 

Burwell is taking over the position of former Willis Towers Watson CFO, Roger Millay. When discussing his new appointment as CFO of Willis Towers Watson, Willis said “I am honored to have this opportunity to join Willis Towers Watson. In all of my interactions, I have been impressed with the strength of leadership, and collaborative and inclusive culture.” The chief executive officer of the company, John Haley, commented that “We are excited to have Mike join our leadership team at an important point in the company’s evolution,” and also spoke on Burwell’s understanding of management, leadership and driving results, and his expertise in finance, transformation and transactions.
