Pit Bull Rescued From Dog Fighting Ring Gets the Best Day Ever

A gorgeous black and white pit bull, named Cherry Garcia by his adopted family, was recently honored by a website called “BarkPost” for his bravery. Though gentle and docile enough to watch over his two tiny kitten friends that live with him, Cherry was once abused and mistreated by football player Michael Vick in a dog fighting ring. He was one of over 50 dogs that were found at Vick’s residence in a rescue operation. Many of the dogs were injured so badly that they couldn’t be saved, but Cherry got a second chance at life.

After all that Cherry has been through, he surely deserved the best day ever, and that is exactly what he got. BarkPost featured Cherry on its video series called “Dog’s Best Day.” For 24 hours straight, he received pampering, treats, and fun. First, he got to snuggle in a tent with several tiny kitten friends brought especially for him. Then, he received his own special ice cream sundae from a bakery just for dogs. And lastly, he got a beach party thrown for him right in the backyard.

The Fiaccone family that adopted Cherry said that they can’t imagine life without him. Though he has suffered tremendously from being beaten and tortured with acid, he has a kind, gentle spirit that is representative of most dogs that are born wanting only love from their owners.
