The Good Life

They say you are not taking it with you, so you might as well enjoy it while you are here. Desiree Perez has long been considered the backbone of success at Sean Carter, AKA Jay Z’s, Roc Nation empire. She is undoubtedly his right-hand woman, and perhaps his left as well. She is a consummate businesswoman who architected a fantastic career for herself, helping Jay Z build his brand. Ms. Perez means a lot to Jay Z and he has no problem stating as much. Mr. Carter was hands-on with every step of his career, with his money, and with each move that was made as he was coming up. When Juan “OG” Perez celebrated his 50th birthday, with his wife, Desiree, and with Jay Z and company, it was done in the lavish style that millionaires would celebrate.

Money and success is nothing without good friends to share it with. Starting in Midtown Manhattan, at what might be considered the best Japanese restaurant on the island, Zuma, they eventually headed uptown to “Made In Mexico,” an evening hot spot and restaurant that is hugely popular, to continue celebrating. There are a number of figures reporting that the lavish evening easily cost over $100,000, with bottles of champagne and cognac being shared, and where excellent food and company were the hallmarks of the evening.

Desiree Perez has done a lot of work for Jay Z, and it is entirely likely that not only does he appreciate her efforts, but he also likes her as a person. He sure showed how much he appreciates her and her husband by celebrating his birthday in such a grand way. Jay Z has long been a class act, avoiding drama and nonsense, not falling into the drug-laden pitfalls of success, and has taken concerted efforts to build his brand in a particular way. He might just be one of the greatest success stories of all time; not bad for a kid from Brooklyn’s Marcy projects.
