The Barre Code is a women’s fitness franchise that was founded by Jillian Lorenz and Ariana Chernin. The two are best friends and both of them have always been passionate about fitness. They are both certified fitness professionals and are therefore very good at their job. Lorenz and Chernin combined their life savings and opened up their first studio in Chicago in 2010. The duo was offering something unique and that is what made The Barre Code stand out from other gyms and fitness centers. They combined strength training, cardio and restoration with barre workouts, a trend that has become very popular among fitness enthusiasts over the last decade.
When Chernin and Lorenz started the studio, it could not sustain itself and they therefore had to keep their fulltime executive jobs and only work at the studio during their free time. This was very challenging for both of them but their love and passion for health and fitness kept them going. In just 6 months, the studio had caught on as their clients loved their workout routines. It became self-sustaining and they both quit their executive jobs to focus on running the studio fulltime. The demand for their brand became so overwhelming that they had to open up new studios to meet this demand. They now have 40 studios across various states in the US with more than 50,000 members.
Chernin and Lorenz faced some great challenges along the way, one of these being the fact that neither of them had prior experience running a business. But this did not stop them from growing their brand into what it is today. Besides offering fitness solutions, Chernin and Lorenz also seek to empower women to take charge of their lives through keeping fit and living healthy. What started out as a mere pastime has turned into a lucrative business thanks to the passion the duo have for fitness and their commitment to excellence and women empowerment.
